Breen Tech Center (BTC)
Located in downtown Cleveland’s historic Flats district, the Breen Tech
Center retains the hometown roots and progressive spirit that characterize
Sherwin-Williams. Completely renovated in the mid 1980s, and recently expanded
to accommodate our growing workforce, the facility occupies the site of the
first Sherwin-Williams factory, circa 1866. It features stunning views of the
busy Cuyahoga River and is surrounded by extensive green space, complete with
a running track, fitness stations, and tennis courts.
Product Innovations in Architectural Coatings
The Breen Tech Center is dedicated primarily to research for industrial and
special purpose coatings, and to developing innovative products for
Sherwin-Williams’ architectural markets. The types of coatings you’ve probably
used: Sherwin-Williams®, Dutch Boy®, Pratt & Lambert®, Thompson’s®, Minwax®,
plus many private label brands.
Our facility has earned national recognition as the finest laboratory and
technological resources in the coatings industry. As a result, we’re delivering
products that raise the bar in durability and performance, and we’re setting
new standards in developing products that protect the natural environment
--bringing greater satisfaction to our customers and employees.
People Dedicated to Success
The Breen Tech Center offers challenging, varied assignments. Over 300
engineers, chemists and technicians experience the thrill of discovery and
