OUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET - OUR EMPLOYEES…..

Joining Sherwin-Williams means you will become enriched with the importance of our company philosophy and belief of ongoing training and development. Training and Development are essential to our performance and future growth.

Field Auditor Training
As a new member of the Field Audit Team you will start with an eight day orientation, followed by five weeks of intensive on the job training. This training incorporates financial and operational training with two different individuals, and then the training wraps up with your first independent audit of a Sherwin-Williams paint store.

Orientation
An eight-day orientation is conducted at the Corporate Headquarters in Cleveland. During this eight-day period you will receive an overview of company benefits, department policies and procedures, Internal Audit Guidelines and learn about the tools used to complete an audit. In addition, you will receive a laptop computer and printer.

On the Job Training
The next five-weeks is structured so that for the first four-weeks you will train with two different individuals, each for two weeks, allowing you to see two different approaches to an audit. During this time you will work one-on-one conducting four store audits. You will move around to various metropolitan markets within the U.S. to get exposure to different types of store audits.

The on-the-job training includes learning how to use our paperless auditing software that is setup on a laptop computer. Also, the training program structure allows you to cover every aspect of Store Operations. You will develop knowledge to audit some of the following areas:
Going Solo
At the end of training, you will conduct your first audit on your own. The audit typically takes one week. During this time, your Field Audit Supervisor will come out to visit you to ensure that you are thoroughly covering all areas of the audit and to increase your knowledge and confidence. If you have any questions or problems your supervisor is there to help! In addition, your Supervisor will provide you with a detailed review of the audit performed. At the conclusion of your solo audit, you are now ready to relocate to your audit zone and start the journey.

Future Training Opportunities
As the year progresses, your training will only continue. You will learn to audit floorcovering centers, spray equipment repair facilities and Chemical Coatings Facilities. Also, you may have the opportunity to complete a peer audit, which gives you the opportunity to work for a week with another auditor.

Each year we schedule an annual meeting of Field Auditors at our headquarters. This is your chance to network with peers, meet our top executives and management from various divisions. Workshops are conducted to help you fine-tune your auditing skills. In total, your first year assignment involves nearly 25% training.

After you have proven your proficiency as a Field Auditor, your second year of service offers other opportunities. Interested in training new auditors? Want to audit the company operated automotive branches? Want to assist with a Corporate Audit? We will take great strides to match your interest to the appropriate experiences. However, as a field auditor you are not limited to just opportunities in audit, audit is the gateway to future opportunities within the entire organization. Also, you may have the opportunity to complete an audit with a peer, which gives you the opportunity to work for another week with another auditor.
