Precious Resources. Proven Protection.

From municipal water treatment plants to industrial cooling ponds, corrosion is at work – weakening steel in clarifiers, damaging distribution piping, and causing leaks in potable water storage tanks. To counter this assault, Sherwin-Williams coatings are also at work – preventing service interruptions, extending maintenance budgets and preserving water quality.

Because corrosion has many modes of attack, Sherwin-Williams offers many types of defenses. They include acrylic, epoxy and urethane systems formulated for specific service environments.

For immersion applications, where galvanic corrosion is an ever-present enemy, Sherwin-Williams’ chemists have developed products that resist blistering and withstand changing water chemistries. On tank and pipe exteriors,as well as areas above the waterline, Sherwin-Williams coatings are barriers to abrasion, moisture and chemicals.

In the business of water processing, Sherwin-Williams covers a world of environments – inside and out.

Tall Order. Total Coverage

From coast to coast, water storage tanks have become landmarks for many cities and towns. They are also integral to water distribution. Sherwin-Williams coatings keep them both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Along with complying with EPA mandates for VOC emissions, Sherwin-Williams coatings for the interiors of water storage tanks and piping are approved to ANSI/NSF Standard 61. They also conform to the latest AWWA standards, and are compatible with both impressed current and sacrificial cathodic protection systems.

Expert Advice. Quality Results.

With the avalanche of new government mandates, coating specification can be a complicated process. Sherwin-Williams can assist in all aspects of a protective coating program to ensure the right product is specified and properly applied.

Knowledgeable in local and federal environmental compliance regulation, ASTM standards, and trade and association recommended practices, Sherwin-Williams technical field representatives offer practical coating solutions. These representatives are backed by a team of Corrosion Specification Specialists accredited by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE). Collectively, they have vast experience in the corrosion control field, and assist in creating coating systems to protect your structures and equipment.

Color, like film thickness and surface preparation, is also an important part of coating specifications. Sherwin-Williams Color Consultants offer professional advice.
